Its exact origins lost in the mists of time, April Fools day supposedly originated in the Middle Ages, during the change from the Julian calendar, the year ending 31 March, to the Gregorian Calendar, the year ending 31 Dec. New Zealanders, irreverent and light-hearted pranksters that they are, have pulled off some classic pranks over there years.
