The petrol gauge was less than a quarter full, and so we both agreed that we needed to stop for fuel “soon”. We drove past a fuel station on the way out of Napier, but it was on the wrong side of the road, and it seemed like too much trouble to stop, turn around, and fill up. Thinking like South Africans, we thought “there’ll be another one along the way”.
